- The ball is delivered from the corner by the wing (#11 or #7) through the air to a target player. The service should look to connect with one of the dedicated runs.
- Primary targets are #9 checking to the ball from the near post, #8 diving to the near post, #6 settling near the penalty spot, or the #11 / #7 opposite wing heading to back post.
- The near wingback (#3 or #2) situate themselves near the corner of the penalty box. Otherwise the are opposite and look to clean up and send back any ball that gets all the way through into the opposite wide channel. These positions must offer support and immediately retreat to prevent a counter attack if the play is broken.
- #6 (cdm) and #8 (cam) must offer support if play doesn’t go according to plan and the team must retreat to prevent a counter attack.
- #4 (center back) is aware of the opposing team’s striker (#9) and marks this player. The #4 should never let any player from the opponent get behind them.
