- The ball is delivered on the ground from the corner by the wing (#11 or #7) to the near wing back (#3 or #2) who is checking toward the corner.
- First, the near wing back (#3 or #2) can shoot immediately if the opponent does not close down. The supporting players will make dedicated runs and get in position for a rebound or second ball.
- Second, the near wing back (#3 or #2) passes the ball into the goal area (6 yd box) to #8 diving to the near post, #6 settling near the penalty spot, or the #11 / #7 opposite wing heading to back post.
- Finally, the near wing back (#3 or #2) can combine with the wing (#11 or #7) to make an overlapping run. If the wing does not get the ball, it immediately rotates into a defensive position in support of the near wing back (#3 or #2).
- The near wing back (#3 or #2) checks back to a supportive position closer to the net as soon as a pass is made.
- #6 offers support immediately if play doesn’t go according to plan.
- #4 (center back) is aware of the opposing team’s striker (#9) and marks this player. The #4 should never let any player from the opponent get behind them.
